Mauser HSc mod 90 10x22T

August 5th, 2008 in Personal Jump to comments
I waited more than 1 month to receive the license to detain, carry and use a self defense gun. I had a lot of headache to get all the paperwork together to fulfill the requirements. I had to go to doctors, psychologist and police, spend a lot of money so they would approve that I'm healthy (not that I wouldn't be), then pay some taxes, a lot of bureauacracy. But now all that is over.

I received the license yesterday (4th August 2008) and the same day I want to buy the gun. I'm talking about a Mauser HSc mod 90. The caliber used is 10x22T. Can fire blanks, gas and rubber bullets. I'm allowed to fire only rubber bullets with it. I didn't tested it yet, but I will, in the shooting range facility. I hope I'll never be forced to use it on somebody, human or animal.

Some people I talked about this didn't really like the idea of having a gun. Like they were scared that something bad could happen. All the time something bad happens. And the worst part is that in this 3rd world country if you own a gun legally then you are taken as a criminal, but those who acquire them illegally they are fine 'cause they are criminals already, they have lethal weapons and the law is not punishing them. Why would they be punished? They have money to bribe those on the part of the law.

If I'll use it? If I have to I will. No doubt about that.
But I really hope it won't be necessary.

Now about the gun. The caliber is 10x22T and has a 7 shot magazine. The overall length is 165mm and weight is 590g. Feels heavy in the hand and I was surprised about that. It has an exposed hammer with double-action trigger, concealed slide stop. The cartridge ejection is lateral and has single/double action.

After I take some shots I'll update the post with other details.

    Sorry to disapoint you. In Romania there are not any kind of fire arms / hand guns for sale for the civilian people.

    The things they are selling calling them "gun" or pistol, to the civilan, for self-defense pourpose only, are all the cheap clones of the well known gun brands.

    All of them are built using a weak alloy [Zinc - Alluminium]. If you can to buy something from Czech Republic [CZ 2075 - RAMI P] or from Ukraine or Modavian Republic FORT 17P or Schmeisser, than it means that you bought a GUN. A real one.

    We are running here the paper-work to establish ROMSDC, Romanian Self Defense Club in order to correct the vision about the craps sold in Romania as GUNs. But the main purpose of our Private Club is to share the experience and to gather the ones that have the same hobby, to help them to understand that the better way to fight to violence is to prevent it and to manage it.

    Anyway, is a long story. On www.romsdc.com you'll find soon a lot of info.

    Regards,

    I know all these things. But for the moment I have no other place to shop. And even if I would buy it from outside of the country then I have other stuff bugging my head about customs, police and so on.

    Even if the "gun" brakes, I have warranty and I'm pretty sure they will change it.

    @Dan Zaharia

    The "cheap clones" as you are calling them with reference to the Röhm RG88 and Mauser HSC90 isn't correct. Gurde bought a quality self defence gun made in Germany which indeed has a zinc alloy slide and grip. But real guns with smaller calibers don't have a steel grip or steel slide always too. The gun he bought for is defence has a lot of parts made of steel.

    @gurde
    I hope you enjoy your gun. I saw your video on youtube. Cool gun. I live in Germany and unfortunately I can own nothing legally but the RG88 or HSC90 blank guns. No rubber balls for me. :(
    But the RG88 and HSC90 as blank guns are nice too. Lots of steel and the gun is durable, trust me.;)
    Röhm knows what they do. They also make high quality clamping tools!

    Wow, some folks from here in the US should read this! I carry a .45 ACP every day of one make or another. Legally. I was looking for one of these rubber guns as an alternative for some of my less capable students. Also wanted to do some force-on-force training with more advanced students. Too funny, I bet I can't get one of these rubber bullet guns here, but I can walk in, drop my $300-1200 (US$) and show my concealed carry permit and walk out with a new hard bullet firing handgun...

    That is not possible in Europe...

    In Germany it is virtually impossible except you are a very very very very famous and rich person who is in danger. It does not help you if you are only famous and rich, you have to be threatened 24/7 also.
