I didn't post since august. It was about time to write something new. Well... I bought myself a car. A brand new one. It is a Hyundai Accent, 1.6 liter, 4 doors, automatic transmission and it cost me around 14.000 €.

Why did I choose to buy this one? It is really simple... cause for that amount of money I had no other options. Of course before buying the Accent I checked other car makers and models. None of them offered so many extras for the car.

I checked first a Skoda Fabia. It was around 11.000 € with not many extras. Only front electrical windows, just frontal airbags, no alloy wheels, no commands on the steering wheel. With the extras I have on the Accent, the Fabia would be around 14.000 € and for sure is smaller. Then I went to check out the VolksWagen (VW) Golf V at 17.000 € with all the extras and they had it only in white. Even more expensive. And I forgot to mention the Opel Meriva. Pretty big with a lot of space, 14.000 € with some extras included, but if I would the extras I have on the Accent it would be 15.500 €. The Kia C'eed was up to 18.000 €, that is even more expensive then the Golf V.

What is all that extra I am talking about?
  • ABS + EBD
  • 6 airbags - driver, passenger, side and curtain
  • automatic air conditioning
  • computer board
  • all 4 windows are electrical
  • central locking with alarm and remote control
  • cruise control with command on steering wheel
  • parking sensor
  • 15" alloy wheels, spare tire also alloy
  • electrical mirrors and heated
  • fog projectors
  • cd/mp3 player, 6 speakers and commands on steering wheel
  • electronic power steering (EPS)
  • bottle support front and back
  • sun glass support
  • steering wheel is adjustable in height
  • steering wheel and shifter covered in leather
  • bicycle carrier for car roof
These are the the extras I received for the Accent. ABS is something standard on all new cars, so that is not really extra.

For now I'm satisfied with the car. Out side of city without AC consumes between 6.0 and 6.7 liters per 100 km and with AC on the consume is between 7.5 and 8.5 liters per 100 km. In the city is a little more, between 9.5 and 11.3 liters per 100 km. Overall has a good fuel usage.

Inside the car is a lot of space and passengers in the back have plenty of room for they legs. The audio system sound really great, the 6 speakers generate up to 172 W.

Updated on October 12th, 2008: I did some photos of the car last night. I'm not really satisfied. I'll try to shoot some other photos during the day.

@FF: I got my car from Timisoara, Romania. When I bought the car, I asked for the cruise control. Of course it didn't come mounted, it came in a box, so I had to go to a service to mount it. 2 days ago, when I was at the service for my 1000 km oil change, I asked them to mount my cruise control. They told me they can't because it is only possible to be mounted on the diesel version.

Now... I know that is not the dealers fault for that, but those from Hyundai Auto Romania who told him that is possible to mount it. I'm very upset. Monday I'll decide what to do about it: money back for the cruise control or for the car.
