Mio c720b running iGo Amigo

At the end of July (2009) I'll go to Dubrovnik, Croatia for a vacation. I don't understand Croatian, so it will be more difficult to find places, remembering how complicated it was in Prague, Czech Republic, compared to other European countries I've been.

So I bought a GPS unit, a Mio c720b. Out of the box it feels lightweight and it has good construction quality. The c720b comes with a 2 megapixel camera that takes photos and records videos, bluetooth for handsfree, 2.5mm jack and SD card slot. It is slim and sleek with a spacious 4.3" widescreen. It uses MioMap 3.3 for navigation and the maps are really old, from 2007. The newer MioMap 2008 isn't so great either.

Time to upgrade. I had 2 options: iGo 8 or iGo Amigo. Both have updated maps, points of interests and other interesting stuff like 3D buildings and elevated terrain. I choose to use iGo Amigo. There are different solutions(hacks) for changing the navigation software, like MioPocket or Simple Unlock. I didn't use them, instead I did something else. I deleted the MioMap and placed iGo Amigo in the same directory, so when I press the MioMap icon it loads iGo Amigo. I updated it with latest maps, POIs and speedcams.

After replacing MioMap 3.3 with iGo Amigo I had a problem when exiting from iGo Amigo. It crashed and did a restart of the GPS unit. After investigating the crash.txt file I found out that a SD card must be inserted, I did that and stopped crashing.

If you need Igo 2008, I'm using it on my Touch Diamond. I have a lot of maps for it.
