Adobe Illustrator crashes when saving file

June 30th, 2009 in Other 1 comment
I tried to copy a vector from Illustrator to Photoshop and use it as smart object. At that moment Illustrator crashed. I did this over and over again, same result. Then I tried to save it, so I could place it in Photoshop, Illustrator crashed again. I thought Windows 7 could be the fault, then maybe the file is corrupted or Illustrator got damaged.

Actually there was no problem with the OS, the file or Illustrator. It turns out that Illustrator needs the Print Spooler service to be running, at least my CS3. I started to go crazy not knowing how to fix this problem. These little annoying problems can make you go crazy. ...read more

Mio c720b running iGo Amigo

June 24th, 2009 in Other 1 comment
At the end of July (2009) I'll go to Dubrovnik, Croatia for a vacation. I don't understand Croatian, so it will be more difficult to find places, remembering how complicated it was in Prague, Czech Republic, compared to other European countries I've been.

So I bought a GPS unit, a Mio c720b. Out of the box it feels lightweight and it has good construction quality. The c720b comes with a 2 megapixel camera that takes photos and records videos, bluetooth for handsfree, 2.5mm jack and SD card slot. It is slim and sleek with a spacious 4.3" widescreen. It uses MioMap 3.3 for navigation and the maps are really old, from 2007. The newer MioMap 2008 isn't so great either.

Time to upgrade. I had 2 options: iGo 8 or iGo Amigo. Both have updated maps, points of interests and other interesting ...read more

Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Backpack

May 15th, 2008 in Other 2 comments
Another excellent Logitech product in my hands. I have to admit, it looks and feels great. This backpack is huge. There is a lot of space inside the backpack. More than you expect from first look.

Before buying this Logitech backpack I used the Kensington Contour Cargo Notebook Sleeve. I'm still using it if I have to carry only the notebook. I had one problem with this one, I couldn't carry more than my notebook, charger and mouse.

I ordered the backpack from an online store, I received it in 1 day, it came in a big box. When I spotted the big box I tough that the backpack must be really big. I was wrong, it was big cause of the protective packaging. The backpack is comfortable, feels good on my shoulders, has many and expanding compartments. It is good balanced and won't fall over ...read more

Logitech X-530

February 5th, 2008 in Other 0 comments
Last weekend I was looking for some simple set of 2.1 speakers. I set my mind on the Logitech Z-3i. Unfortunately I couldn't find it in any local store so I had to look for something else.

I was not looking for a 5.1-channel surround sound, but I decided to buy the Logitech X-530. Each of the satellite speakers has a black-plastic casing, a see-through black-cloth grille, and a built-in plastic desktop stand that swivels and conveniently converts into a wall mount. The matching, horizontally oriented center speaker can be placed on your desk or perched atop the monitor; it tilts up or down. A power switch, a 1/8" headphone jack, and a system-volume control sit below the drivers on the front-right satellite speaker. The bass control is down on the subwoofer, which requires you to hit ...read more

DELL Inspiron 1520 Sunshine Yellow

December 17th, 2007 in Other 4 comments
After many days of research I finally bought a notebook. As the post title says, it is a DELL Inpiron 1520 Sunshine Yellow. When I got the box, I could not wait and I opened it. I did not expect to be a nice yellow, but it is. It is like metallic and at touch it feels like rubber. It was a little heavy.

Specifications: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.66 GHz, 1024 MB (2x512) DDR2 SDRAM, 15.4" WXGA TFT TrueLife, nVidia GeForce 8400M GS @ 128 MB, 120GB SATA Samsung, DVD-RW, High Definition Audio 2.0, Wireless, Bluetooth, Webcam.

I pressed the power button. All went fine, but there was no OS installed. I had to restart and enter the BIOS to set the boot sequence, saved the settings, inserted the Windows XP Media Center CD into the reader then I restarted.

After finishing installing I had to ...read more
